you can use any foundation mastic, roof patch, plastic cement. If you use a self adhesive membrane, you need to use it with the primer.

  3. Question

    Chris Jankowiak

What are my options for fasteners. I received my roll of membrane, cap and plugs. This will be going on a basement block wall. Tapcons? some sort of nails? I’m hoping for the quickest most effective method. Tapcons seem like too much work with drilling pilot holes.

1 1/4 x 3/16″Tapcons are the safest bet. Yes it is more labor intensive but most block walls are hollow and you run the risk of damaging them if you use a powerful concrete nailgun.

  4. Question

    Brad Kemper

Hello..I have a standard block foundation basement in my home built 2006 with drop ceiling in it and am wanting to apply this to back wall but not sure what size roll i need as the excavation hasnt started yet. Is there a way to tell the height of roll i would need for this application? Also is there a standard amount of hardware/plugs/moulding/cap for each size roll you buy? My basement is 55′ long on back wall and id say from floor of basenent to drop ceiling is approx 7ft.
    Thanks
    Brad

A test hole is best to determine the roll size. Its hard to determine the measurement because the distance varies in most homes from the top of the footing to top of slab. The rolls can easily be cut to height once you determine the exact measurement when you excavate. Ensure the roll is high enough. We offer a 8’11 roll. 2 bundles of dimplegrip molding and 2 bags of superplugs will work for you. You may have a few pieces of molding left over.

Question in regards to the DimpleGrip molding. I can’t find anything that says what type of fasteners to use, (what length, tapcons?) and placement of said fasteners on the molding. Thanks

      1 1/4″ x 3/16 Tapcons will work the best. Concrete nails 1 1/4 or 1 1/2″

If this product is exposed above grade can it be protected from breaking down by coating it with exterior latex paint?

    • Ross Carmen

      Ross Carmen

The membrane will expand and contract with temperature changes and paint will crack when this happens. You can use a elastomeric paint that will flex a bit and last awhile but not long term. The membrane is not supposed to be exposed to UV for long periods of time. It is best to cut the membrane off and cap or seal the top at grade height.

I am purchasing this for basement internal walls; Like to know if this material breaks down like you explained for external application on Aug 12 2021 comment as response to Bryan. As per below comments interior application also over time exposed to cold and warm conditions in various seasons; I will not be able to reach / inspect this material after framing , insulating & dry wall on top of this Dimple mat attached to concert wall and tucked into the parameter gap around by basement.

Direct sunlight and UV rays is what will break it down on the exterior. No concerns for your interior application.

  12. Question

    Marian Kasker

What can my friend put over this (and how) to get a finished basement again? She had flooding from a hurricane & this is what the contractor put up and left her with. She has a sump pump. It looks horrible. She used to have a lovely finished apartment in the basement. Now no one knows how to finish the walls to put up paneling or whatever. She just has this “stuff” flapping loose on her walls.

For hollow block walls it is best to use 11/4″ x 3/16″ tapcon screws through the center hole on our superplug. If the blocks are filled you can use any type of concrete nail gun. It is best to test a spot first as a concrete nail gun could damage the block.

  15. Question

    Anthony Gregg

If I used a Ramset Powder Actuated Gun with Ramset 1 1/2″ nails on the Super Plugs would that be okay given that the nails already have a plastic collar on them? So then there would be the collar and the Super Plug attached to the concrete wall? If not, how else would I do this using a Powder Actuated Gun? Thanks.

The membrane should be covered within a few months of installation. After a year or two….the membrane exposed will start to break down. It should be terminated just below grade.
