Question
Ros –
How do you recommend securing the baseplate of a non load bearing wall to the floor when building over the SuperSeal Laminate & Carpet Subfloor membrane?

SUPERSEAL –
2 3/4″ x 1/4″ tapcon screws or a hilti type concrete nailgun.
Question
Daniel Daily –
Your installation instructions are to install the membrane 1/4″ from any walls. I’m considering installing this as a vapor barrier in my unfinished basement, where there is currently no vapor barrier on the walls or floor (on the inside or outside of the basement), before finishing the basement. Leaving a gap between this membrane and my newly vapor barrier walls (rigid foam board) would defeat the vapor barrier’s purpose. If I were to seal this membrane to the rigid foam board on the walls to create a full vapor barrier, would this create issues for the product?

Is the 1/4″ gap also needed to allow for thermal expansion?
Ross Carmen –
yes…the membrane will expand and contract a small amount in any temperature changes
Ross Carmen –
The product is a moisture control and has not been tested as a vapor barrier. Moisture can not penetrate the membrane and it is mold resistant. It allows and creates airflow between two separate products or substrates. No issues for the product.
Question
JRose –
I installed linoleum vinyl planks on my basement floor a little over a year ago. The cement had been painted by a previous owner and was transferring color (to shoes, cat paws . . .). The paint was also deteriorating and coming up in a fine red dust. Terrible. The paint prevented me from using a sealant, so it needed to be covered. I have just realized that water had leeched up through the cement and had to remove all of the flooring to dry it out. Can I put this product under the LVP? Will it allow the water to evaporate? Will it support the LVP adequately? Can I use the single dimple, or do I need the double dimple? Hoping to find a reasonable solution to a really awful problem . . .

Ross Carmen –
Use the double dimple subfloor. It has high compressive strength and over 2400 dimples per square foot. The floor should be the click together style. Glue down or self adhesive flooring requires a plywood subfloor first
Question
Lizbeth –
I have a somewhat finished basement room with a very rough and uneven concrete floor. Can I use this as a padding underneath area rugs? Does it offer any cushion?

Ross Carmen –
Very rough or uneven floors should be levelled with a self levelling concrete first. Our products will bridge small imperfections and follow the contours of the floor. It is not designed for area rugs. A plywood subfloor would have to be installed on top of our membrane if you choose to have area rugs.
Question
Wade –
Will superseal subfloor membrane support a standard 8′ pool table weighing about 800 – 900 pounds?

Ross Carmen –
Hi Wade, As per discussion calculate the size of the legs and divide that into the compressive strength.
Question
Lori –
Does it matter which side of the double simple board is face up?

Ross Carmen –
It does not. It is best to roll it out….cut to size and then flip it over. The product is machine made and has a bit of memory. Especially at the end of the roll. When you flip it over it will lay more flat.

Hi Maura, you can order directly off of our website. The smallest roll of double dimple is 162 sq ft…..thank you
Question
John Hentges –
What is the thickness of the membrane material (understand that the dimple profile is .11” tall)? What is membrane material?

Ross Carmen –
The material is HDPE…High Density Polyethylene….the material is .6 mm (24 mil)
Question
Stephanie Russell –
We are having carpet professionally installed and would like to put this down beforehand. When I told the carpet company what we are going to do, they suggested contacting you to question if the carpet can be stretched over the membrane? Could you please tell me if the carpet has to be laid over membrane or can carpet be stretched over it during installation? I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you for your time.

Ross Carmen –
cut the membrane 1/4″ short of any walls, flip it over, butt and tape seams. Nail the tackstrip through the membrane into the concrete. Install the carpet pad and then carpet. You can use double-sided carpet tape to secure in place in a few select spots, if necessary….
Question
Ashley Powell –
My local store has something similiar to this. I asked them if pad could be laid on top and they told me no. Said you may see the dimples eventually, which i dont believe. Is your different?

Ross Carmen –
You would never feel or see the dimples with ours. Not sure what product you are comparing it to, but ours has a 1/8″ profile and very high compressive strength. It is a double dimple design and has over 2400 dimples per square foot.
